      Beijing Institute of Technology Institute of Education was officially established in June 2010, with its roots going back to the creation of the Office for Higher Education Research in 1981 and the Office for Academic Journals as the earliest endeavors to restore education management in universities upon China's reform and opening up. The Institute started to offer the master’s degree in higher education in 1998, which soon became one of BIT’s “985” key disciplines to construct; In January 2006, the Institute was authorized to offer the master’s degrees in education as a level-I discipline, currently featuring five graduate programs: higher education, educational economics and management, educational technology, educational policy and regulations, educational and developmental psychology, as well as one master's degree program in education. The discipline was ranked 22nd and top among institutions of its kind in an evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education in 2008. The Institute was authorized to offer the Doctor of Education degree as a level-I discipline in 2011. 
     Currently, the Institute has 34 staff: 7 professors and editors including 3 doctoral supervisors, and 12 associate professors and the equivalent. In addition, the Institute is hiring government leaders, renowned education expert, and renowned higher education administrators as consulting or adjunct professors. It consists of the Institute of Educational Sciences, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Center, and the Office for Academic Journals with several academic journals and magazines including "Degrees and Graduate Education", "Beijing Institute of Technology Journal of Natural Sciences" (Ei retrieval), "Beijing Institute of Technology Journal of Natural Sciences English Version "," Beijing Institute of Technology Journal of Social Sciences "(CSSCI retrieval).
     The Institute is capable of carrying on major research projects. Over the last five years, it has undertaken over 100 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Educational Science Planning, the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Industry and Information, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, and Beijing Municipal government. During the 30 years, the Institute has produced a number of outstanding graduates with both ability and integrity for the community.
